Hundreds of Energy Star Rated HVAC Systems Installed
Ensuring HVAC System Integrity
We have seen a lot of aging HVAC systems with legacy ductwork put in place according to outdated standards. As HVAC (and geothermal) system installers, we have retrofitted many air duct systems to be energy efficient and balanced. We use ACCA standard calculations to make sure systems can meet expected airflow requirements without exceeding the recommended energy usage.
Comfort, Savings, and Energy Efficiency
Air Tight Ducting uses high quality materials to increase high efficiency air filtration in residential settings. This translates to comfort, savings, and efficiency.
Our commitment to high quality sealed ducting design and Energy Star standards make us the right partner for HVAC systems installation in New England.
Energy Efficient HVAC Installation – What to look for in a Contractor:
If you are looking to hire a professional contractor for duct installation or improvement in the ductwork, here are a few things to look for in a contractor that will help you get the most energy efficient installation possible.
Make sure the contractor:
- Inspects the whole duct system, including the attic, crawlspace, garage and basement as needed.
- Evaluates the system’s supply and return air balance. Many systems have air return ducts that are too small.
- Repairs damaged or disconnected ducts and straighten out flexible ducts that are tangled or crushed.
- Seals all leaks and connections with mastic, metal tape, or an aerosol-based sealant.
- Seals all registers and grills tightly to the ducts so there is not air leakage around registers in the floors and ceilings.
- Insulates ducts in unconditioned areas with duct insulation with an R-value of 8.
- Evaluates air flow after repairs are completed.
